Drainage improvement

Poor drainage along the railway causes flooding along the path and under the railway bridge.

With few materials, blood, sweat and tears and some on-the-spot engineering calculations, the team improved the area greatly.

Within just 3 weeks the team:

  • dug drainage channels,

  • dredged the existing stream and ditches,

  • made a rampart along the edge of the railway embankment,

  • raised a section of the pathway to allow a walkway through the puddles.

  • dug a channel under the bridge to guide the water off the railway embankment into the stream.

We used old paving slabs to provide foot paths over the drainage channels.
